Lois K. Foley, 48, of So. Abington Twp., died Tuesday morning in the VNA Hospice Unit at Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton. Her loving husband is Timothy D. Foley, the couple had been married for 21 years.
Born in Woonsocket, Rhode Island, she was the daughter of the late Clyde and Helen (Farrell) Hawley. Lois earned her Bachelor's degree from the University of Scranton and was currently pursuing her Master's . She was an elementary school teacher for Lackawanna Trail School District.
Also surviving is a sister Eileen Hawley Nigro and her husband Steve Nigro, NY; two brothers, Clyde Hawley Jr. and Glenn Hawley, NY; nieces and nephews, Caitlyn and Bridget Ward, NY; David, Olivia and Jessica Hawley, NY; Sean, Michael and Christopher Foley, RI; mother in law, Diane Juliani, RI; sister in law, Mary Foley, RI; brothers in law, Chris Foley, FL and Sean Foley, RI; and her faithful dog, Maggie.
She was preceded in death by her beloved dog, Stella.
Lois was a spirited fighter in her battle with breast cancer and was an inspiration to her many loyal supporters. She will be deeply missed by her treasured students and countless cherished friends.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on January 19 at 11:00 am at St. Peter's Church, 350 Fair Street, Warwick RI.
A Prayer Service will be celebrated on January 31 at 10 am from Our Lady of the Snows Church, 301 S. State St., Clarks Summit. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
