Lillian Kosser Greenwald passed away June 28. She was born April 12, 1923 in Spring Valley, N.Y. to her late parents Herman and Rae Kosser.

Always an excellent student she graduated from Brooklyn College summa cum laude. She also received a graduate degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University.

She married Henry Philip Greenwald who she knew since Spring Valley and University of Virginia days. After a year at Eglin Field in Florida they moved from Manhattan to Queens and then Englewood, New Jersey where their three children, Dr. Richard A. Greenwald, Dr. Jeffrey S. Greenwald and Janey Greenwald Czubek grew up. Lillian became a substitute teacher and then an elementary school teacher in the Englewood school system. Most of her career was well spent teaching a generation of 4th graders. Her teaching skills and striving for excellence were conveyed vividly to her students, children, family, and friends and extended to her grandchildren.

Lillian is survived by her loving sister Diane Kosser Etra, daughters-in-law Shelley and Faye Greenwald and son-in-law Todd Czubek, grandchildren Brian Greenwald, Michael Greenwald, Erica Greenwald Markant, John Czubek and Cam Czubek and three great grandchildren Andrew, Henry and Harper Greenwald.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 11, 2014 at New Montefiore Cemetery at 1:00 PM.
