Listen to Obituary
Lester L. Driesbaugh, 79, of Clarks Summit, died Tuesday night at home. He and his wife, Martha Michalik Driesbaugh, would have celebrated 60 years of marriage in January.

Born in Waverly, son of the late Lester and Helen Thompson Driesbaugh, he was educated in Waverly schools and Fleetville High School. He was a member of Our Lady of the Snows Church, Clarks Summit. He worked for Halsey Corp. for more than 30 years before retiring.

He was a man of few words, but he had many accomplishments in life. There was nothing he could not fix, from very large machinery to the most intricate of devices. He loved the outdoors, working in his beautiful vegetable and flower gardens.

His greatest joy was spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren and his precious great-granddaughters. He had a very special place in his heart for his loving and faithful dog, Brutis, who always was by his side.

Lester also enjoyed vacationing with his family, going to Florida and Ocean City, Md., or spending quite time at the cabin watching deer and bear eating the feed he placed out for them.

Lester was a gentle man with a very large heart. He will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He died with his loving wife and children by his side.

The family would like to extend a very sincere thank you to VNA Hospice and its staff. A special thank you also goes to his daughter-in-law, Judy, for all her tender, loving care.

Also surviving are four sons, Ronald and wife, Judy, Clarks Summit; Lester W., Factoryville; Richard and wife, Patricia, Scranton; and Andrew and wife, Linda, Clarks Summit; two daughters, Mary Kay, Clarks Summit; and Ann Marie Scoda and husband, Raymond, Clarks Green; a daughter-in-law, Carol Driesbaugh, Clarks Summit; 10 grandchildren, Jason Driesbaugh, Philadelphia; Katie, Kristin and Kara Driesbaugh, Scranton; Jennifer Porgar and husband, Anthony, Clarks Summit; Ashley Driesbaugh, Mayfield; Shawn, Sarah and Tyler Driesbaugh, all of Clarks Summit; and Alyssa Scoda, Clarks Green; two great-granddaughters, Gianna and Paige; four sisters, Genevieve Drake, Olyphant; Elizabeth Wood and husband, Larry, Clarks Summit; Dorothy Driesbaugh, Scranton; and Helen Kozlansky, Tunkhannock; two brothers, David Driesbaugh, Dalton; and Elwood and wife, Bonnie, Clarks Summit; and a brother-in-law, Walter Garey, Tunkhannock.

He also was preceded in death by a son, Timothy M. Driesbaugh, and three sisters, Gloria Major, Buelah Driesbaugh and Dolly Garey.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. from Our Lady of the Snows Church, 301 S. State St., Clarks Summit, to be celebrated by Monsignor James McGarry. There will be no public calling hours. Friends and family may go directly to church.
