Leona T. Pallman, 90, of South Abington Twp., died Sunday morning at Commonwealth Hospice at Regional Hospital of Scranton. She was the wife of Arthur "Dutch" Pallman, who died in 2009.

Born in Newton, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Hazel Bellersheim Thompson. She was a graduate of Newton-Ransom High School. She was a member of the former Schultzville United Methodist Church, currently Countryside Community Church; and the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau. Her greatest accomplishment was establishing Pallman's Poultry Farm with Dutch. She was most proud of the Master Farmer Award that Pallman Farms achieved in 1988.

Leona was a kind, caring woman who lived her life with dignity and took great pride in the accomplishments of her children and grandchildren. She was a consummate cook, baker and caregiver and loved to travel. She was a fan of Penn State and the Philadelphia Eagles.

Surviving are three sons, Richard and wife, Sylvia, Newton Twp.; Brian and wife, Jane, South Abington Twp.; and Bruce and wife, Debra, Clarks Summit; a daughter, Betsy Jayne and husband, William, Newton Twp.; a brother, Robert and wife, Veronica, Newton Twp.; nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by a brother, Richard Thompson; and a sister, Evelyn Brower.

A funeral service will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. from the Countryside Community Church, 14011 Orchard Drive, Clarks Summit, by the Rev. Dr. J-P Duncan, pastor. Interment will follow in Abington Hills Cemetery, South Abington Twp.

Friends may call Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit, and Thursday from 9 to 10 at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Countryside Community Church or the American Diabetes Association , 71 N. Franklin St., Wilkes-Barre, PA 18701.
