Listen to Obituary

Layla Thatcher, 10, of Tunkhannock passed away on Saturday, August 29, 2026, alongside her parents, Peter and Sandra Thatcher, and her beloved brother, Noah following an accident.

She was born on July 9, 2016, in Wilkes-Barre, PA.

Layla was a 5th grade student at Tunkhannock Intermediate Center. She was a bright, creative, and joyful young girl whose love for life could be seen in everything she did. She had a special way of bringing happiness to those around her, whether she was dancing, creating something beautiful, singing a song, or simply spending time with the people she loved.

Dancing was one of Layla's greatest passions. She previously danced at Wendy Peckins School for Dance and was currently a student at Back Mountain Dance Studio. She loved expressing herself through dance and found so much happiness in being able to perform and share her love of dancing with others.

Layla was also incredibly creative and loved being an artist. Painting was especially meaningful to her, and she enjoyed using her imagination to create things that were colorful and uniquely her own. She loved her fairy garden, had a special fondness for sea turtles, and enjoyed collecting rubber ducks, with a collection of more than 100.

Music was another constant part of Layla's life. She loved to sing and could often be heard humming a tune wherever she went.

Layla loved being outdoors and making memories with her family and friends. She enjoyed fishing, swimming at the lake, and spending time at Rock Mountain Bible Camp. Her faith and the friendships she made were an important part of her life. She loved school and especially treasured the friendships she made there and at church.

She is survived by her paternal grandparents, Alan and Trisha (Puhl) Thatcher; maternal grandparents, Vito and Lou Ann (Wrubel) Rinaldi; several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in the Thatcher Family's name to the BGMC (Boys and Girls Missionary Challenge), 1445 North Boonville Ave, Springfield, MO 65802.
