Lavina H. Maas
Lavina H. Maas, of Dalton, died early Wednesday at the Laurels at Mid Valley Hospital, Peckville. She was the widow of Elmer Mass, who died in 1993.
Born in Taylor, daughter of the late Alfred and Mary Robbins Salmon, she was an instructor for the International Correspondence Schools before retiring. She was a member of Waverly United Methodist Church and enjoyed talking about her childhood in the Pyne Patch section of Taylor.
Surviving are a son, Kenneth and wife, Leslie, Dalton; three daughters, Joan Hanes, Dalton; June Newnham and husband, Albert, West Chester; and Holly Matthews and husband, Richard, Furlong; a sister, Maye Salmon-Nardozza, Tucson, Ariz.; eight grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held privately at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements by the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit.
