Lavern A. Nearmyer, 48, of Scranton, died May 14 after a long illness.
He was the son of Marjorie Nearmyer of Zeeland, Mich., and R. Lavern Nearmyer of Newton, Iowa. Vern graduated from Newton High School in Newton, and Baptist Bible College, Clarks Summit. He was employed by Macy's department store.
Also surviving are a sister, Lisa Bush, Zeeland; a nephew and nieces, as well as many caring friends. He was preceded in death by a sister, Valerie Stone.
A memorial service will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at Parker Hill Community Church, 607 N. Abington Road, Clarks Summit. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in Shellsburg, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Parker Hill Community Church or to an education fund for his nieces. Arrangements by the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit.
