Laura L. Sloan of Clarks Summit died Thursday evening in Community Medical Center. She was the wife of George A. Sloan. They celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary in June.

Born in Riverdale, N.J., she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Helen E. Richards Larry. Before retirement, she was a tax collector and court clerk for the Borough of Riverdale. She was a resident of Clarks Summit for the past 26 years and attended Our Lady of the Snows Parish. She had a passion for bingo, baking and always had advice on gardening.

Also surviving are two sons, Todd A. Sloan, Clarks Summit; and Scott L. Sloan, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; a daughter, Dawn Verosic and husband, Ron, Hudson, Fla.; four grandchildren, Eric, Shane and Star Verosic and Lauran Sloan; and three great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Tina Sloan; a brother, Anthony Larry Jr.; and a sister, Doris Larry.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. from Our Lady of the Snows Parish, Clarks Summit, to be celebrated by Monsignor Joseph G. Quinn. Interment, St. Anthony's Cemetery, Butler, N.J.

Friends may call Tuesday, 9 a.m. until Mass time. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Red Cross of Lackawanna County, 545 Jefferson Ave., Scranton, 18510.
