Kenneth L. Walter, Sr., 74, of Nicholson, died Friday morning at home. His wife is the former Evelyn Hopkins, the couple had been married for 57 years.
Born in Taylor, he was the son of the late Leroy Glen and Ruth Etta Dennis Walter. He was a graduate of Blakely High School. Prior to retirement he worked for Mayflower Mfg. in the garment industry.
Earlier in his life he had worked in sales for the Jewel T Co., Spaulding Bread Co., and for 11 years in Ciabocchi's Grocery Store, and as a painter and paper hanger.
Ken enjoyed woodworking, old cars and music. He served as Director of the Music Choir at East Benton United Methodist Church where he had been a member for 55 years. He was also the Director of the East Benton Gospel Singers.
Ken was a true gentleman, loved and respected by many, who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Also surviving are three sons, Kenneth L. Jr., New Jersey, Jeffrey L. and his wife Vicki, Factoryville, and Vincent R., Nicholson; a brother John F. Walter, Peckville; 11 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Leroy Walter, Jr.; a sister, Ruth Gilbert; a granddaughter, Calli; a niece, Rebecca Kern and a nephew, David Walter.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday at 11 am from the East Benton United Methodist Church, 170 Jordan Hollow Rd., Dalton, PA 18414, with services by Mark Obrzut, pastor. Interment will follow in Valley View Cemetery, Montdale.
