Kenneth Rudat Sr., Clarks Summit, 73, passed away on July 27, 2014, in Hospice Care at Regional Hospital of Scranton, Pa., after a brief illness.

He was born in Scranton on April 15, 1941. The happiest day of his life was on June 1, 1963, when he married his lovely wife and soulmate, Janet. Ken attended Keystone College and East Stroudsburg University, where he earned his bachelor's degree in 1963 and his master's degree in 1967. He possessed a natural talent for teaching and was a biology teacher in the Elk Lake School District for 37 years.

Ken is survived by his loving wife, Janet; his children, Kenneth Rudat Jr.; Robin Thal and husband, Allan; and Keith Rudat and wife, Lauren. Ken also has four grandchildren, Courtney Rudat, Joshua Thal and Brian and Gregory Rudat. He is also survived by many friends and family, especially his aunt, Evelyn Rudat.

He was predeceased by his parents, Fred and Betty Rudat; and a brother, David Rudat.

Calling hours will be on Wednesday, July 30, at 11:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in the gathering area. Church services will directly follow at 1 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 205 W. Grove St., Clarks Summit, Pa. Interment will be at Dunmore Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Trinity Lutheran Church, Clarks Summit, PA 18411. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit.
