Joseph Niles Saxton of Clarks Summit died Saturday morning at the Jewish Home in Scranton. His wife, Nancy Saxton, died on Oct. 26, 2007.

He was a member of Our Lady of the Snows Church, and an Army veteran during W.W.II. He was a gifted musicologist, graduating from Westminster Choir College where he was trained to make beautiful choirs out of average people who volunteer to sing in church. He was also an accomplished organist. Having previously worked in a position at the Jewish Congregation in Westchester Co., NY, he came to St. Catherine of Siena Church in Riverside, CT , leading their choir in performances, both here and abroad. He left a lasting impression on all he met by his uplifting personality and exceptional musical talent.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Our Lady of the Snows Church, 301 S. State St., Clarks Summit. Interment will be at a later date in Clarks Green Cemetery.
