Listen to Obituary
"Perhaps there are not stars but rather openings in Heaven where the love of our lost ones shine down to let us know they are happy."

Joseph Norbert Lukus,31, Newton Twp., entered Heaven's gate on Nov. 5, 2015.

Born in Scranton, Pa., son of Marianne Elisabeth Lukus and the late Joseph Peter Lukus, who passed away in 2011, he was a graduate of Abington Heights High School in 2003. He went on to receive an associate degree in fire science at Luzerne County Community College and graduated from the Lackawanna Police Academy. He was also a FF/EMT at the Clarks Summit Fire Company.

Joey was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed hiking with his friends and his best friend, Bunny. A recent hiking trip to Colorado will forever be cherished by his brother, Michael, and cousin, Brian. If he was not on a mountain or riding the backroads on his motorcycle, Joey also loved competing in powerlifting competitions and working under the hood of a car with his father and brother. He thoroughly enjoyed passing down his knowledge of cars and weight lifting to his brother. While his passion for cars, animals and the outdoors was strong, it could never match the love for his family. He will forever be missed.

Also surviving are a brother, Michael and his wife, Dillon, Clarks Summit; his maternal grandmother, Anna Valentine, Clifford; aunts, Marlies Gregory, Karen Valentine and Linda Carpenter; uncle, Michael Lukus and wife, Theresa; cousins, Jennifer Kochmer and her husband, John; Christina LaCoe and her husband, Kevin; Brian Lukus, Tom Andzulis, Brandi Valentine; and Ashley McCloskey and her husband, Rob.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Joseph and Veronica Lukus; and his maternal grandfather, Norbert Valentine.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of the Snows Church, Clarks Summit. All of those attending are asked to go directly to the church. Interment will follow at Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Finch Hill.

Friends may call Tuesday, 4 to 7 p.m., at the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit.
