Joseph J. Karanosky, 70, a resident of Newton Twp., died Friday evening at Geisinger CMC. He was the husband of the former Marion Hasenpusch. The couple had been married for over 15 years.

Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Walter and Florence Cheseck Karanosky. He proudly served his country in the Navy during the Vietnam War . He graduated from Abington Heights, and before his retirement, Joe worked as a machine attendant for Thomson Consumer Electronics.

Joe enjoyed fishing and working around the house on any project thrown his way. He was a jack of all trades. Joe was an avid animal lover, especially when it came to his pet chickens. It was a known fact not to bother Joe on Sunday when football was on, especially during the Eagles game.

Joe was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a kind man with a gentle heart who would do anything to help anyone.

Also surviving are two daughters, Kim Matys and husband, Steve; and Missy Forder and husband, Norm; three grandchildren, Marcus, Summer and Sierra; and one great-granddaughter, Faith; as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Walter Karanosky.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. from the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit. Interment will take place privately at the convenience of the family.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 4 until the time of the service.
