Joseph James Hopfer, 15, of Long Pond, died Tuesday at home.

Born in Henderson, Nev., he was the son of Joseph A. Hopfer, Scott Twp., and Denise Loveall Boss and stepson of Leonard Boss, Long Pond.

He was a ninth-grade student at Pocono Mountain West Junior High School and a member of the Urbane Gospel Choir. He enjoyed having fun, joking around and spending time with his brother. An avid outdoorsman, Joseph enjoyed fishing, riding his bike and his quad. He also was a great Philadelphia Eagles football fan.

Growing up, Joseph was Nana's golden boy, and his family will always remember him catching planes from the sky with Papa. His friends and family will miss his bright smile and contagious laughter.

Also surviving are paternal grandparents, Joseph Harry and Carol Hopfer, Las Vegas; maternal grandmother, Joyce Loveall, Canoga Park, Calif.; a brother, Joseph Thomas Boss, at home; a sister, Joelle Hopfer, Fresno, Calif.; a brother, Fred Fannon, Berkley, Calif.; many aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, James Loveall.

The funeral will be Sunday at 3:30 p.m. at the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit, with services by the Rev. Errol Morgan, pastor of Parker Hill Community Church. Interment will be at Tompkinsville Cemetery at the convenience of the family.

Friends may call Sunday from 1:30 until the time of the service.
