Joseph W. Gwozdz of Clarks Green died Friday at home. His wife of 62 years is the former Lois Kline.
Joe was born on Nov. 18, 1924, in Pittsburgh, to the late Walter and Victoria Gwozdz. He was a graduate of Pitt School of Engineering, class of 1951. He served in World War II with the 350th Ordnance Battalion and was honorably discharged in 1946. Before retirement in 1989, he was employed by McKinney Manufacturing for 33 years.
Joe's family would like to thank the compassionate caregivers of the Hospice of the Sacred Heart. A special heartfelt thank you to those of you who extended yourselves to our family during this difficult time. Joe died surrounded by his wife and his loving family.
Also surviving are two sons, Robert Gwozdz and wife, Bev, Souderton; and Garry Gwozdz and companion, Karen Taber, Jim Thorpe; a daughter, Barbara Webber and husband, Thomas, Winchester, Va.; two sisters, Stella Boczkowski and Florence Braun, both of Pittsburgh; six grand- children; and two great-grandchildren.
A blessing service by Monsignor James McGarry, with military honors, will be held Tuesday at noon at the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
