Listen to Obituary
Joseph A. Franko, Jr., 76, of Newton Twp., died Sunday evening at home.  His wife was the former Judith Huggler; the couple had been married for 56 years.

Born in Falls Twp, he was the son of the late Joseph Sr. and Francis Nawrocki Franko.  He was a 1958 graduate of Newton Ransom High School, and prior to retirement he worked at Proctor & Gamble in Mehoopany.  He was a member of St. Mary's of the Lake Church and a former member of the Newton Ransom Volunteer Fire Co.  He was a member of the NRA and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Joe was a loving husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family and took pride in the closeness they shared. He loved watching his grandchildren at their sporting events, where he was their biggest fan.  He was a regular at Ayers Country Market where he would visit with his friends, who were all regular customers.

The Franko family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to all those who took time out of their busy lives to visit, transport and assist in caring for Joe. They would like to thank Allied Services, Allied Hospice, and the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania for their excellent care. The family would also like to acknowledge Dr. Sheela Prahalad, who went above and beyond to care for Joe.

Joe's five children would like to recognize the dedication and devotion of their loving mother who spent countless, sleepless nights in hospitals and at home caring for their father. She encompasses what it means to be a devoted wife and mother, and a role model for all.

Also surviving are three sons, Brian Franko his wife, Lisa, Mill City, Robert Franko and Dale Franko, both of Newton; two daughters, Michele Davidson and husband Jamie, Falls and Christine Rosenkrans, Newton; a brother Richard Franko, and wife, Mary Lou Dalton; son-in-law, Thomas Rosenkrans; and six grandchildren, Troy Franko, Danielle Davidson, Alissa Franko and fiancé, Paul Whelski, Mackenzie Davidson, Donald 'DJ' and Daniel Rosenkrans, several nieces and nephews, and his faithful dog, Angel.
