Joseph A. Badamo, 58, of South Abington Township, formerly of Staten Island, N.Y., died suddenly Tuesday morning at home. He was the husband of Loretta Gaffney Badamo. The couple has been married for 26 years.
Born June 12, 1956, in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, N.Y., he was the son of Matt (Mariano) Badamo and the late Mary Paladino Badamo of Staten Island, N.Y. He was a 1974 graduate of St. Francis Prep School, Brooklyn, N.Y. and attended Queens College, then joined the Coast Guard from 1975-1979. He worked for Bank of America for 24 years.
Joe was a resident of South Abington Twp. for 24 years. He was an avid sports fan, following N.Y. Yankees baseball, N.Y. Giants football and N.Y. Knicks basketball.
Joe was a great friend to those who knew and loved him. He was an amazing husband, father, son, brother, grandson and nephew. His laugh, smile and sense of humor will never be forgotten. The impact of his life and accomplishments on those who loved him cannot be told in so few words. He will be loved and missed by everyone who knew him.
Also surviving are two sons, Joey and Matt; a daughter, Danielle Overbaugh and son-in-law, Doug; a sister, Andrea Badamo and brother-in-law, John Dertinger; two grandchildren, Laila and Tytan; niece, Amanda Gieri; and nephew, Anthony Gieri; aunts, uncles and cousins; and Sonny, his energetic dog.
He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents and uncles.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday morning at 10 a.m. from the Church of St. Gregory's, 330 N. Abington Rd., Clarks Green, Pa., to be celebrated by Rev. John Lapera, pastor. All those attending are asked to go directly to the church. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit, PA 18411.
