Joseph Anthony Altieri, 68, lifelong resident of Dalton, died Tuesday, January 5 at the Golden Living Center in Tunkhannock after a brief illness.
Joseph was born in Scranton on January 24, 1947, the son of the late Anthony and Ruth Altieri.
He was a 1965 graduate of Lackawanna Trail High School and after graduation, served in the Army as a Spec. 5 stationed in Germany from 1966 to 1968. After being honorably discharged, he was employed by the John Deere Company in Dunmore as a heavy equipment mechanic. Joseph later formed his own excavating company and founded the Dalton Plumbing & Heating Company. He recently retired from Linde Construction as a heavy equipment operator. He attended Our Lady of the Abingtons Church.
Surviving are two brothers, Tony and Richard; three daughters, Lori, Melissa and Jamie; six grandchildren, Vaughn, Harper, MaKenna, Cole, Olivia and Rachael; one niece, Pamela; three nephews, Anthony III, Daniel and David; three grand nieces, Beca, Kayle and Katie and one grand nephew, Rylan, along with numerous uncles, aunts and cousins.
A Blessing Service will be held on Monday at 10 AM at the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St. , Clarks Summit, PA, with services by Fr. Petro, pastor, Our Lady of the Abingtons Church. Interment with ful l military honors will take place at Fairlawn Cemetery in Dalton.
Friends may call on Sunday from 3 to 6 PM at the funeral home.
