Josef Nimmerfroh, Clarks Summit, died in his home on Thursday evening after a short battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ana Nimmerfroh, whom he was married to for 53 years on May 13, 2020.
He was born in Grunddorf, Germany in 1939. In 1961, he started his career in banking in Mainz, Germany. Later in 1962, he joined the Schott Glass Company in their Mainz office and, in 1966, moved to their headquarters in New York. The company later opened a new branch in Duryea and he put down roots in Clarks Summit in 1969, where they raised two children. He worked for Schott Glass for 39 years, having helped establish their operations in NEPA. He retired from his position as the optical sales manager on Dec. 31, 2000.
Josef enjoyed reading, playing golf, and chess. In 1979, he won the Mid-Valley Chess Club Tournament, taking home first place. He was a devout member of Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church. He supported many charities and believed strongly in giving back. He was a family man, a great father and grandfather.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Stephen Jaditz, Hospice of the Sacred Heart, and At Home Quality Care.
