John Yckowski of Justus died Friday evening at Abington Manor, Clarks Summit. He was the husband of Dorothy White Yckowski. They were married Nov. 27, 1941.
Born in Justus, son of the late Gus and Alice Yckowski, he was self-employed and worked as a millwright. He was a charter member of the Justus Fire Company and served on the Scott Twp. and Lakeland school boards. He also served as a director at St. Joseph's Cemetery.
Also surviving are a daughter, Jeanne Opeil and husband, Fran, Jermyn; a grandson, Mark Opeil and wife, Robin, Dundaff; two great-grandsons, Tyler and Eathan; a sister, Irene Powell, Justus; two nephews, Joseph and Ken Powell; and a son-in-law, Ronald Kresge.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Y. Kresge; and a brother, Joseph.
As per his request, there will be no public viewing. Private graveside services, St. Joseph's Cemetery, Scott Twp.
