John "Jack" William Perry, Jr., 83, of Dalton, died Tuesday evening at Regional Hospital in Scranton. His wife is the former Lois Morgan. The couple had been married for 64 years.

Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late John William Sr. and Alice Ruth Martin Perry. He was an active member of Clarks Summit United Methodist Church where he served on the Board of Trustees, was a Past President of the Couples' Class, and served as a Sunday School teacher for many years. Prior to his retirement he was an Operating Engineer for Local 542 which he joined in 1949.

Jack was a 50 year, 32nd degree member of Waverly Lodge No. 301, Free and Accepted Masons. He enjoyed his summer home at Handsome Lake where he was past president of the Cottagers' Association.

Also surviving is a son, John Perry III and his wife Joanne, Factoryville; two daughters, Jan Perry and companion Tony Smith, Green Lane, PA and Linda Edmondson and her husband, James, Chinchilla; 4 grandchildren, Stacey Searles, Shawna Salerno, Justin Pessolano, Jaclyn Perry; and 4 great-grandchildren, Brianna and Samantha Searles, Cassidy Salerno, Todd Edmondson.

The family would like to express extreme appreciation to the staff of Regional Hospital's ICU.

A Celebration of Jack's Life will be held on Saturday, May 16 at 3 pm at the Clarks Summit United Methodist Church, 1310 Morgan Highway, Clarks Summit.

Arrangements are entrusted to the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home & Cremation Svc., Clarks Summit.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Clarks Summit United Methodist Church.
