John Stracham Jr., Clarks Summit, died Sunday evening at Regional Hospital of Scranton. His wife and best friend of 62 years is the former Nora Parlanti.
Born in Dickson City, he was the son of the late John and Mary Ganczarski Stracham. He was a graduate of Scott High School and served in the National Guard. Before retirement, he was employed as a kitchen designer for Vince Mecca Cabinetry. He was a member of Our Lady of the Snows Church, where he was a Eucharistic minister and a member of the choir.
John was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his family. He loved hunting and fishing and was an avid Miami Dolphins fan. He thoroughly enjoyed the company of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are two daughters, Debra Lick and husband, Joseph, Scott Twp.; and Jacqui Tunis and husband, Mark, Clarks Summit; two sisters, Pearl Tranovich, Greenfield Twp.; and Romayne Guzzi and husband, Joseph, Olyphant; four grandchildren, Joseph "Jay" Lick and wife, Mandy; Travis Lick and wife, Nicole; Justin Tunis and wife, Cassie; and Brandon Tunis; six great-grandchildren, Reilly, Max, Mattingly and Magnolia Lick, Vivienne and Giovanni Tunis; a sister-in-law, Liana Smith and husband, Peter; several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by his parents-in-law, Leonard and Elsie Parlanti; and a brother-in-law, Edward Tranovich.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of the Snows Church, 301 S. State St., Clarks Summit. All those attending are asked to go directly to church. Entombment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Dickson City.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Our Lady of the Snows Church choir at the above address.
