John Stolarik, 62, of Scranton, died Thursday morning at Regional Hospital of Scranton. He was the husband of Kelly Christian Stolarik. The couple had been married for eight years.

Born in Scranton, he was the son of Shirley Ross Stolarik and the late John Stolarik. He was a Navy and National Guard veteran and served in Vietnam and Desert Storm. He was past commander of VFW Post 5209 of Scranton, a life member of VFW Post 3451 of South Side and past president of the Midtown tennat council.

John was an avid NASCAR, New York Giants and girls softball pitch fan. He also enjoyed watching movies, being with friends and loved of his cat, Trigger.

The family would like to thank Dr. Emanualson and associates in Dunmore, the Rev. Simmons for her kindness and friendship and to all the nurses in hospice at Regional Hospital.

Also surviving are a son, Scott Stolarik, Scranton; two brothers, Stephen and wife, Sam, Greenfield Twp.; and Bobby, Scranton; four sisters, Mary Narsavage, Dunmore; Judy Stolarik, Scranton; Ann Peernock, Dunmore; and Laurie Stolarik and fiancée, Tammy Nobel, Pottstown; several nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Jeri Todd; grandparents, Mary and Steven Stolarik; Emily and Howard Ross; and Stanley Narsavage.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 322 Chestnut St., Dunmore, on Saturday at 11 a.m. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
