John "Jay" Stanley, 57, of Dalton, died Saturday morning in the hospice unit at Regional Hospital in Scranton following a courageous, seven-year battle with multiple myeloma. His wife of 37 years is Deborah Stanley.
Born in Scranton, son of the late John R. and Betty Cordy Stanley, he was a graduate of Lackawanna Trail High School and was employed as a heating and air conditioning installation and service technician and also worked at Clark's Sharp-All. He was a member of Dalton Volunteer Fire Company.
Jay enjoyed hunting and riding his Harleys.
Also surviving are two daughters, Jennifer Williams and husband, Mark, Throop; and Dawn Stanley, Chinchilla; a son, Eric Stanley, Dalton; a brother, James "Fred" Stanley and wife, Rita, Prince Albert, Canada; a sister, Joan R. Merring and husband, Richard, Englewood, Fla.; two grandchildren, Alexis and Rhys; stepgrandchildren, Meghan, Mark Jr. and Hope; a granddog, Miller; a niece and three nephews; several grandnieces and grandnephews.
A funeral service will be held Saturday at 4 p.m. in Clarks Summit United Methodist Church, 1310 Morgan Highway, Clarks Summit. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
Friends may call from noon until time of service at the church. Calling hours and service have been moved to the church due to the Clarks Summit Ice Festival celebration.
