John "Jack" Lange, 60, of S. Abington Twp., died Wednesday morning at his home surrounded by family. He and his wife Amy were married for 30 years.
Born in Allentown, he was the son of Eileen Durkin Lange and the late Oscar C. Lange. He was a graduate of William Allen High School and went on to receive his bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Penn State University. He was employed at Universal Instruments in Binghamton, NY as a mechanical engineer and remained dedicated to his work throughout his illness. A proud Penn Stater, he was a member of the Alpha Chi Sigma fraternity and Saturdays were spent rooting for the Nittany Lions.
Jack encouraged his children to work hard at whatever they were passionate about. Though he also encouraged fun and occasional mischief. He was a beloved "Mr. Jack" to the kids he coached throughout the years.
Also surviving are two sons David and Patrick Lange both of Clarks Summit; daughter Stacy Lange, Dunmore; brother Larry Lange and his wife Barbara, Scottsdale, AR; two sisters Ellen Fairchild and her husband Daniel, Allentown and Kathleen Trinkle and her husband Mark, Greensboro, NC and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his in laws, Mr. and Mrs. I.C. Ricker.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 10:30am at the Church of the Epiphany, 1003 Church Hill, Glenburn Twp., Dalton, PA. Interment will follow in the memorial garden at the church.
Friends may call Friday from 5-8 pm at the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit.
