John "Jack" Lee, 85, of Clarks Summit passed away peacefully at home on Saturday evening. His loving and devoted wife, the former Virginia Geadrities, was by his side. The couple was married in February of 1960.
Born in Scranton in 1936, he was the son of Harold and Dolores Lee (Cummings). A 1954 graduate of Holy Rosary High School, he joined the United States Navy and served on the USS Charles Roan. After working for both GE and Bell Electric, Jack founded Power Electric Supply and then Lee Electric Supply Co, Inc. in June 1987, where he continued to serve as President until the time of his passing. He was a member of Our Lady of the Snows Church, the Factoryville Sportsmen's Club and a lifetime member of the NRA.
Jack was a devoted and loving father, grandfather and great grandfather. While he did love hunting and fishing, nothing gave him greater joy than being surrounded by family. A true fan of his children and grandchildren, few sporting events took place without him in attendance. He frequently made gifts to the various teams of the many photographs he took from the stands and sidelines. Affectionately known as 'Bubba', Jack was well known throughout the region and widely respected. His generous and magnanimous heart moved him to support many local and national charities with Abington Heights Comet Sports and St. Joseph's Center in Scranton chief among them. Probably most well-known for his spectacular St. Patrick's Day Parade celebrations, he was made an honorary member of the IBEW Local 3, New York City Sword of Light Pipe and Drum Band and then served as the Honorary Grand Marshal of the St. Patrick's Day Parade in Scranton in 2009-- a title he truly treasured.
Also surviving is his brother Robert (Bonnie) Lee and five children, Debbie (Jim) Fruehan, John (Kathi) Lee, Sandy (Dave Colombo) Lee, Peggy (Brian) Davis and Judy (Tomm) Evans, all of Clarks Summit and surrounding areas. He had 10 grandchildren, James (Celene), Maggie and Jake Fruehan; Matthew (Kalee) and Meghan (Ben Mattrisch) Lee; Kate (John) Sanders, Samantha (Nick) Krut and Shelby Morgan; Arla and Haddy Davis. He also leaves 6 great grandchildren, Rumsey and Elliot Lee; Jack, Trey and Grace Sanders and JJ Krut with 2 more on the way. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sister Cathy and brother-in-law Frank Gavern.
The family would like to thank Laura Marion, Jonathan Budziak, Penny Hoffman and all of the Allied Hospice Staff for their kindness and compassionate care.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of the Snows Church, 301 S. State Street, Clarks Summit by Msgr. Michael J. Delaney, pastor. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The family requests that all in attendance at both the visitation and Mass wear masks.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Allied Hospice, 100 Abington Executive Park, Clarks Summit, PA 18411 or St. Joseph's Center, 2010 Adams Ave., Scranton, PA 18509.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 418 S. State Street, Clarks Summit.
