John L. Hock Jr., Clarks Green, died at Allied Services Hospice Unit Thursday afternoon. His wife is the former Patricia A. Randle. The couple was married for 57 years.
Born in Bloomsburg, the son of the late John L. Hock Sr. and Mildred Mosteller Hock, he was a graduate of Bloomsburg High School, received his undergraduate degree from Gettysburg College and completed his Master of Divinity from Clarks Summit University. John was a self-employed contractor. He honorably served our nation in the United States National Guard and was a member of Parker Hill Church.
He was a hardworking individual who loved the outdoors, enjoying hunting, fishing, hiking and kayaking.
Also surviving are two daughters, Lori Young and husband, Jack, of Cedarville, Ohio; Susan Lee and husband, Tom, of Washington; daughter-in-law, Rebecca Hock, of South Abington Twp.; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was also preceded in death by his son, John L. Hock III.
A memorial service will be Monday at 6 p.m. in the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit, by Dr. James Lytle, president of Clarks Summit University. Interment will be private in Clarks Green Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
