John L. Hock III, South Abington Twp., died at home Sunday afternoon. His wife is the former Rebecca A. Norman. The couple married in 1988.

Born in Reading, he was son of John L. Jr. and Patricia A. Randle Hock, Clarks Summit. He was a 1982 graduate of Baptist High School. After high school, he joined his father as a painter and paper hanger, and continued the business for 33 years.

He was a hardworking individual who enjoyed hiking and kayaking, especially at the Lackawanna State Park, where he adopted a trail. He was a loving father and husband who enjoyed spending time with his two daughters.

Also surviving are two daughters, Katie L. Hock and Karen E. Hock, both at home; two sisters, Lori Young, Cedarville, Ohio; and Susan Lee, Washington.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, J. Lester and Mildred Mosteller Hock Sr.; and his maternal grandparents, Benjamin E. and Helen Ockovich Randle.

A memorial service will be Friday at 6 p.m. in the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit, by his friend, the Rev. Paul Wilson. Interment will be private in Clarks Green Cemetery at the convenience of the family.

Friends may call Friday from 4 until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lackawanna State Park Services, 1839 Abington Road, N. Abington Twp., PA 18414.
