John T. Griffin, Sr., Clarks Summit, died Wednesday evening at the Abington Manor Nursing Home.
Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Charles Myers Griffin and Margaret Freeman Griffin. Prior to his retirement, he was the owner/operator of Griffin Automotive in Clarks Summit. He was a proud Army veteran who served in Vietnam.
He is survived by two sons, John Griffin and Richard Griffin and wife, Susan, Clarks Summit; a daughter, Ginger Griffin, of Richland, North Carolina; a sister, Linda Besten, and husband Frank, Clarks Summit; a brother, Charles Griffin, and wife Marilyn, Chambersburg, Pennsylvania; three grandchildren, Traci and Erica Griffin, and Shanach Parks; two great grandsons, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, Doug, in 2007.
A celebration of John's life and military honors will be held Monday at 10 am from the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State Street, Clarks Summit with services by Rev. Andrew Weidner.
Friends may call on Sunday from 1 to 3 pm at the funeral home.
