John F. Fayocavitz, of Ransom Twp.; died Sunday morning at the VNA Hospice Unit at Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton. He was surrounded by his loving family. His wife is the former Lorraine Huggler, the couple had been married for 62 years.
Born in Taylor he was the son of the late Edward and Anna Samsock Fayocavitz. He was a 1948 graduate of Newton Ransom High School. He was employed for many years by Wyoming Sand and Stone and was last employed by American Asphalt. John was a proud Army Veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. He was also a member of the Countryside Community Church.
John enjoyed the outdoors, especially gardening and was very proud of his garlic crop. But his main passion in life was spending time with his grandchildren and attending all of their sporting events. He was also an avid Boston Red Sox Fan.
Also surviving are two sons John E. Fayocavitz Chantilly, VA.; and James Fayocavitz and his wife Shelley, Clarks Summit; and two daughters Patricia DeLeo and her husband John, Scranton; and Luanne Evans and her husband Jeff, Ransom twp.; a brother Joseph Fayocavitz and his wife Phyllis, Clarks Summit; a sister Delores Byrn, Scranton; nine grandchildren Timothy and Shaun Sandy, Heather Bunting, Jeff Evans, Brittany and Tia DeLeo, Morgan, James, and Luke Fayocavitz, and two great grandchildren Paige and Dakota Sandy.
He was preceded in death by two brothers Walter and Robert Fayocavitz.
A memorial Service with military honors will be held on Saturday at 11am in the Countryside Community Church 14011 Orchard Dr., Clarks Summit, with services by the Rev. Mark Terwilliger, pastor. Friends may call from 9 am until the time of the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Countryside Community Church.
