Joan Ofalt, 79, South Abington Township, died on Saturday, Jan. 26, 2019.
Born on Dec. 28, 1939 in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Evelyn and Albert Kleiza. She was a 1958 graduate of Scranton Tech High School. She retired from Tobyhanna Army Depot as the protocol officer. Joan was a member of The Church of St. Gregory, Clarks Green.
She and her husband, Joseph, resided in Fleetville. The couple was married on Oct. 6, 1962. He preceded her in death in 1999. She was also preceded in death by infant children, Patricia and Stephen.
Surviving are her son, Joseph Ofalt (Douglas), Philadelphia; Susan Henry (Mark), Hanover Township; grandchildren, Mark, Colin and Rebecca Henry and William Johnson-Ofalt; brother, Al Kleiza (Elizabeth), Akron, Ohio; brother in-law, Ronald Ofalt (Barbara), Clarks Summit.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday at 11 am from the Church of St. Gregory 301 N. Abington Rd. Clarks Green, to be celebrated by Rev. John Lapera, Pastor. Friends may call from 9:30 am until the time of service at the church. Interment will follow in SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery, West Scranton.
