Joan Ann Coolican, 77, died Friday after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Her husband of 47 years is Paul J.Coolican, D.D.S.
Born June 4, 1931, in the Washington Heights section of New York City, daughter of the late Willard and Anna Boylan Orr, she graduated from St. Jean Baptiste High School, New York City, in 1949. After moving to the Green Ridge section of Scranton, she was employed by the Murray Corp. as a secretary. She was a member of the Catholic Adult Club, the Women's Dental Auxiliary and St. Gregory's Church in Clarks Green.
Joan was a loving wife and mother. She was under the loving care of her family and the hospice.
Surviving are four children, Carol Hosier and husband, Jeff, Clarks Summit; Christine Lucarelli and husband, Bruce, West Chester; Dr. John Coolican and wife, Mary, Moosic; and Patti Coolican, Clarks Summit; 10 grandchildren: Kyle, Kaylin, Keegan and Kullen Hosier; Julie, Laura and Scott Lucarelli; and Megan, Kelly and Katie Coolican; and four brothers, Danny, Billy, Larry and Joseph Orr.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 1 p.m. from St. Gregory's Parish, 330 N. Abington Road, Clarks Green, by Monsignor John Louis, pastor. Interment, Cathedral Cemetery.
