Joan Ellen Arnaiz, 80, of South Abington Township died Friday, July 10 at home, surrounded by her loving family. She was the widow of the late John Burton Arnaiz who died in 2013. The couple had been married for over 54 years.
Born in Schenectady, NY, she was the daughter of the late James and Marguerite (Pitcher) McDonald. She was employed at General Electric in Schenectady, NY, where she met her husband John B. Arnaiz. Joan devoted her life to her family. Due to her husband's job she lived in several areas in PA, always taking great pride in a lush garden and beautiful home. She was an excellent cook and made every holiday special. She loved to dance with John, read, quilt, play bridge, and do crossword puzzles.
Surviving are her son, Mark Arnaiz; three daughters: Karen Goodling, Susan Runner and husband, Eric, and Lisa Heimbach and husband, Robert, seven grandchildren: Joel, Shawn, and Leah Goodling, Kaitlyn and Rachel Runner, Cara Spinosa, and Marissa DiCostanzo, and great-granddaughter Cassie Spinosa. She is also survived by her brother, Paul McDonald.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John B. Arnaiz, and two brothers, James McDonald and Thomas McDonald.

Funeral Service and Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
