James L. (Jim) Standley, 55, Clarks Summit, died Tuesday, December 25, at Mercy Hospital.
James was born in Kinsley, Kansas, to Ruth Standley and the late James L. Standley. He
grew up in Hastings, Nebraska, graduating from Hastings College in 1974. In 1975 he
married Judy Metcalf. In 1978 he joined the Met Life computer team in Wichita, Kansas as
a programmer.
After moving to Clarks Summit in 1996, he rose to Senior Systems Analyst/ Architect. As
a member of Clarks Green United Methodist Church, Jim sang with the church?s Gospelaires
and Sunday Choir as well as serving as an instrumentalist, and a member of the music
committee.
He was a devoted family man of great character and intellect, with a deep love for music.
He is survived by his wife Judy, daughter Laura, son Nathan and granddaughter Emma, of
the home. Emma was a special joy to him. Other survivors include his mother Ruth and a
sister, Nancy Standley of Billings, Montana, a cousin, Suzan Cox, of High Bridge, New
Jersey and extended family in Nebraska and Kansas.
A memorial service will be held 11am on Saturday, January 5th at the Clarks Green United
Methodist Church, 119 Glenburn Rd., Clarks Green, with services by Rev. Lori Steffensen,
pastor.
