Jennifer Scott, 56, of Newton Twp., died Thursday morning at Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore.
Born in Scranton, daughter of Marion Stott, Ransom, and the late Ernest Schultz, she was a 1979 graduate of Abington Heights High School. She continued her education at Lackawanna Vo-Tech nursing school and was employed as a licensed practical nurse by St. Joseph's Center for 30 years. She was a faithful member of Parker Hill Church and volunteered regularly at both church and the Keystone Rescue Mission.
Jennifer was extremely giving in every aspect of her life and was always looking for ways to help others, whether it was collecting donations or serving meals at the Keystone Rescue Mission or in the ways she loved and cared for each of the residents at St. Joseph's Center. She loved to travel and was open to taking adventures to the beach or mountains or wherever the road led with her boyfriend, George. One of her fondest trips was to Alaska with her sister-in-law, Diane. Jennifer loved and adored her grandchildren, and they loved their "Nonni."
Because of her faith in Jesus Christ, her family takes great comfort in knowing that Jennifer is enjoying heaven now and has been made new and is likely spending time with her dad, who loved her with a great love...and is probably sitting down to share a big bowl of ice cream with pretzels with her dad.
Also surviving are two daughters, Vanessa Walters and her husband, Dan Jr.; and Cassy Rupert and her husband, Adam; three brothers, Dave Schultz, Wes Schultz; and Ernie Schultz and his wife, Jennifer; a sister, Aimee McGarry and her husband, Patrick; three grandchildren, Eva and Abigail Walters and Noah Rupert; and her devoted boyfriend, George Marinchak.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday at 6 p.m. from the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit, by the Rev. Paul McGuinness of Parker Hill Church. Interment will take place privately at the convenience of the family.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Keystone Mission, 8 W. Olive St., Scranton, PA 18508.
