Jean L. Smith, 67, of Tunkhannock, died Monday evening at home.
Born in South Abington Township, daughter of the late George and Mildred Greene Cooper, she was a 1958 graduate of Clarks Summit High School. Before retiring, Jean had two careers. She served as administrator of Tunkhannock Methodist Manor and she also worked in the billing department of Road Scholar Transport. In her spare time, Jean was an avid reader and patron of the arts.
Surviving are a daughter, Jami Day, Tunkhannock; a son, Scott Granville, Tunkhannock; two sisters, Mildred Taugher, Clarks Summit; and Janet Glynn, Scotia, N.Y.; four grandchildren, Jennifer Neely, Hollidaysburg; Patrick Hopkins, Jamestown N.Y.; and Grace and Eric Kelly, both of Tunkhannock; many loving nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Friday, 2 to 5 p.m., at the home of Mildred Taugher, 119 Maple Ave., Clarks Summit. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in Jean's memory go to the Tunkhannock Public Library, 220 W. Tioga St., Tunkhannock. Arrangements are by the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit.
