Jean L. Savitts, 89, Hazelton, died Friday afternoon at Allied Skilled Nursing Center in Scranton. She was the wife of the late Benjamin Savitts who died in 1964.

Born in Dickson City, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Elizabeth Schuster Carey. She was a graduate of St. Patrick High School. She was employed at Mercy Hospital for 19 years retiring in 1989. She was a member of Our Lady of the Snow Church.

Jean was an avid NY Giants, NY York Yankees, and Notre Dame Fan. But her main passion in her life was her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Surviving is a son Walter and his wife Patricia, Clarks Summit; two daughters Kathy Savitts, Hazelton; and Barbara King, Quakertown; a sister Lucille Carey, Franklinton NC; three grandchildren Jonathan, Kelly, and Ben King; four step grandchildren Patrick, Michael, and
Angelo Desarno, and Lucy Hufford; two great grandchildren Jacee King and Austin Santos; and four step great grandchildren Lilly, AJ, and Adam Hufford, and Philip Desarno, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a brother Joseph Carey.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday at 9am from the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home,418 S. State St. Clarks Summit Pa. 18411, with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30am from Our Lady of the Snows Church, 301 S. State St. Clarks Summit Pa. 18411. Interment will follow
in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Blakely.

Friends may call Monday from 5 to 8pm at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Our Lady of the Snows Church.
