Jean Bichler Melville of Chinchilla died Saturday morning at Mountain View Care Center, Scranton. She was the widow of Belmont P. Melville, who died in 1965.
She was born in Taylor, the daughter of the late Gustave and Mamie Curtis Bichler. Before retirement in 2001, she was employed by Nichols Village, Clarks Summit. She was a woman of Methodist faith who cared deeply for her family.
Surviving are a brother, Robert Bichler and wife, Evelyn, Buffalo, N.Y.; a sister, Mary Swienckowski, Torrington, Conn.; a sister-in-law, Josephine Bichler, Chinchilla; a nephew, Curt Bichler, Scranton; caregivers, Deborah Bichler, Lake Winola; and Beverly Peckham, Carlisle; several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by four brothers, David, Earl, Charles and Gustave; and a sister, Mabel Salmons.
A funeral will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. from Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit. Interment will be in Shady Lane Cemetery, Chinchilla.
Friends may call Monday, 3 to 7 p.m., and Tuesday, 10 until the time of the service.
