Janet Marie Carr Howells, 71, of Scranton, died Thursday morning at the home of her son. She was the widow of the late Robert W. Schmidt, who died in 1992.
Born in Clarks Summit, she was the daughter of the late Edmund and Claire Rowlands Carr. She was an Avon representative since 1978, earning many awards and was retired from Scranton Label Inc. Clarks Summit.
Surviving is a daughter Monica Smith, and her husband Raymond, Scott Twp.; a son Robert Schmidt II, and his wife Lisa, Old Forge; a brother Edmund J. Carr, and his wife Darlene, Newton Twp.; a sister Diane Lozinger, Newton Twp; and three grandchildren Koda and Kenzie Smith, and Riley Schmidt; best friend Rosemary Forgione; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother James.
What made Janet the happiest was spending time with her grandchildren and watching Nascar races.
A funeral service will be held Monday at 10am from the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St. Clarks Summit Pa. 18411, with services by Pastor George Mathews from Trinity Lutheran Church Clarks Summit. Interment will follow in Milwaukee Cemetery, Ransom Twp.
