Jane Scappatura, 87, of Dalton, passed away peacefully on November 3, 2021 at Allied Services Hospice Center.
Jane was born on July 8, 1934 at the Village of Hempstead in Long Island, NY. She was the daughter of Herbert and Ethel McKenna. Jane graduated from Westbury High School. She then became a secretary at the Long Island Lighting Company. Not long after, she met the love of her life, Gene, and they got married on September 4, 1954. They had 4 children before they decided to move to Fleetville, PA, where they would manage airports together and build a beautiful life for their family.
Jane is survived by her brother, Gerard McKenna; her sister, Kathleen Liverpool; her son, Peter Scappatura and his wife, Sue, and their children Marisa and Julie Scappatura and Emily Vail; her son, Mark Scappatura, and his children Rachel Aniska and Kaitlin and Susan Scappatura; her daughter, Kathy Dixon, and her husband, David, and their son, Ryan Dixon.
Jane is preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Scappatura; her son, Michael Scappatura; and her grandson Christopher Dixon.
Jane was a faithful member of Our Lady of the Abingtons Church. She enjoyed gardening, shopping, and sitting with friends and family reminiscing for hours. Jane was the beautiful matriarch, known as Nana, to her beloved family and she will be remembered for her warm smile, generous heart, and witty sense of humor. She had a magnetic personality and will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her.
There will be a memorial service to celebrate Jane's life held at Our Lady of the Abingtons Church, 700 W Main St, Dalton, PA 18414, on Monday at 10 a.m., with services by Rev. Arbogaste Satoun, pastor. All family and friends are welcome to attend. Interment will follow at Abington Hills Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made out to The Pines Senior Living, 1300 Morgan Hwy, Clarks Summit, PA 18411, Allied Services Hospice Center, 511 Morgan Hwy, Scranton, PA 18508, or Our Lady of the Abingtons Church, 700 W Main St, Dalton, PA 18414.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 418 S. State Street, Clarks Summit.
