Jane E. Plantholt, 94, of Clarks Summit died Wednesday evening at Abington Manor in Clarks Summit. She was the wife of the late Lloyd Plantholt who died in 1966. Jane was born in Scranton on September 5, 1916. She was the daughter of the late Ellery and Anna Bailey Falck. She moved to Clarks Summit in 1924 where she attended Clarks Summit High School and graduated in 1933. Jane was also a graduate of Lackawanna Business College. She worked as a Secretary to C.S. Woolworth. Jane and Lloyd owned the Terrace Restaurant from 1952 to 1982 where she became famous with her patrons for Terrace dressing, peanut butter pie, and great homemade food. She met her husband Lloyd when she performed in the minstrel shows for the Scranton Conservatory. She was the pianist for the Conservatory and also sang in the women's choir from 1931 to 1936. She was the past president of the Abington Jr. Women's Club for two years, and a member of both the Country Club of Scranton and the Canoe Club. She retired to Indialantic, Florida for 25 years, and then moved back to Clarks Summit in 2008 where she resided at Bedford Towers. Jane enjoyed playing golf and bridge, watching Orlando Magic basketball, and spending time with her family. Her family and friends remember her for her great sense of humor and for the lady that she truly was. We always said that we did not need a book of etiquette, we had Jane. She has been a member of the Clarks Summit United Methodist Church for 70 years. The family would like to thank the staff at the Abington Manor for their compassionate care. Surviving is a son William, and his wife Debbie; Clarks Green; two granddaughters Olivia Jane, Clarks Green; and Jaime L. Mengel, and her husband Mike, Coplay Pa.; great granddaughter Amber L.; a daughter in law Ruth Plantholt, Schnecksville. She was preceded in death by a son Lloyd in 2010. A memorial service will be held this Saturday at 12noon at the Clarks Summit United Methodist Church, 1310 Morgan Hwy. Clarks Summit. Interment will be in Hickory Grove Cemetery at a later date.
