Jane L. Ayers LaCoe of Ransom Twp. died Wednesday evening at United Methodist Homes at Wesley Village Campus, Pittston. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Kenneth A. Ayers, and her second husband, Ray LaCoe.
Born in Philadelphia, daughter of the late Milton and Jane Freeman Spangler, she was employed as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service and was a waitress at Thompson's Dairy Bar for many years. She was an active member of Newton United Methodist Church and the Wyoming Charge Conference. She was a resident of Ransom Twp. for the past 56 years.
Music was a very important part of her life. She had professional voice training, played the piano and was a soloist in Roxborough Baptist Church, Philadelphia. She continued singing in the Milwaukee and Newton church choirs when she moved to the area. She particularly enjoyed singing in the Christmas and Easter cantatas and was asked to sing at many weddings.

Surviving are a son, Kenneth Ayers and wife, Christine, Milwaukee; two daughters, Michele and Patrice Ayers, both of Boston; a brother, William Spangler and wife, Saundra, Florida; four grandchildren and their spouses; and four great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Joseph, David and Charles.
A memorial service will be March 28 at 11 a.m. in the Countryside Community Church, formerly Newton United Methodist Church, Church Hill Road and Newton Ransom Boulevard, Newton Twp., by the Rev. Dr. J.P. Duncan, pastor.
