Jane M. Ayers, 78, of Milwaukee, died Sunday evening at Hospice of the Sacred Heart in Dunmore. She was the wife of the late Doane "Ab" Ayers, who died in 1992.

Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late George Leuthe and Dolores Merkel Leuthe Bray;and step-daughter of the late Ezra Bray. She was a 1955 graduate of St. Mary's of the Assumption Catholic School, Scranton. Prior to her retirement she was an emergency dispatcher for Lackawanna County for twenty four years. Jane took great pride in her work and was proud to be named the Dispatcher No. 1 for Lackawanna County. She was a member of the Newton Ransom Volunteer Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary and Our Lady of the Snow Church, Clarks Summit.

Jane loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Surviving are three daughters Lisa Kircher, Mill City; DeAnn Wellard and her husband Kevin, Milwaukee; and Lori Summerhill and her husband Chris, Milwaukee; a son Mark Ayers and his wife Amy, Milwaukee; seven grandchildren CJ Summerhill, Ben Ayers, Amber Ayers-Walicki and her husband Rick; Joseph and Jane Kircher; and K.C. and Adam Wellard; three great grandchildren Aleah Kircher, and Ryan and Mason Walicki; a sister DeeDee Reigh, King of Prussia; step sisters Esther Jacques and her husband Carl, Mill City; Mildred Zimmerman, Tunkhannock; Blanche Colbenson and her husband Robert, Tunkhannock; Step sister-in-law Audrey Bray, Scranton; brother-in-law Alan Miles, Florida, a sister-in-law Cathy J. Leuthe, Allentown; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a son Doane "Abby" Ayers, Brothers James L. Leuthe, George J. Leuthe, and infant brother Joseph Leuthe, and a sister Peggy Ann Miles.

A blessing service will be held Friday at 11:30am from the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St. Clarks Summit Pa. 18411, with services by Rev. Jeffery Tudgay, assistant Pastor of Our Lady of the Snows Church. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 4 to 8pm and also on Friday from 10:30AM until time of service at the funeral home.
