James L. Roland, 88, of So. Abington Twp., died Monday morning at Abington Manor. His wife is the former Ann Marie Brogan. The couple had been married for 67 years.
Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Lawrence and Frances Freeborn Roland. He was a graduate of Clarks Summit High School and received an Associate Degree from Lackawanna Junior College. He was a proud Navy veteran, serving in World War II as a Seaman First Class at the Naval Air Station in Adak, AK. He was a member of Our Lady of the Snows Church, Clarks Summit.
He worked at Capitol Records for many years, and in the maintenance department at Allied Services Linden St. apartments. Prior to retirement he worked in the maintenance department at the University of Scranton.
Also surviving are two sons, James and his wife Debbie, S. Carolina and Matt and his wife Laura, Washington, DC; a daughter Mary and her husband Thompson Kreidler, So. Abington Twp.; eight grandchildren, Stacey, Claire, Kelly, Kathleen, Kane, Brogan, Alexa, Abbey; two great grandchildren, Riley and Owen.
He was preceded in death by a brother Gary Roland.
Funeral Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
