James Overgard

James Overgard, 74, of So. Abington Twp., died Sunday evening  at Willowbrook Assisted Living Facility.

Born in Danville, he was the son of the late Carson F. and Hazel Christian Overgard.  Jim was born with many physical disabilities which he overcame through great focus and perseverance.  At birth his estimated lifespan was less than three months, but Jim proved them wrong.  He attended Pocono Mountain High School and prior to his retirement was employed at Tobyhanna Army Depot in the photo plating department for over 31 years.  While at Tobyhanna, he was commended many times for the quality and consistency of the work he produced, and was highly regarded by his coworkers.

He was a dedicated member of both the First Presbyterian Church of Clarks Summit and the Waverly Lodge F & AM, No 301, Clarks Green.   In his spare time, Jim enjoyed his family and working jigsaw puzzles.

Surviving is a sister Mary Lee Wirth and her husband Charles (Mick), Clarks Green; a niece Kristen DeLambo and her husband Doug, Maryland; a nephew, William C. Wirth, Scranton; numerous cousins.

Jim's family would like to thank Dr. Michael Kondash, the staff at Willowbrook and Traditional Hospice team for the wonderful care afforded to Jim.  Jim loved his Willowbrook family as much as they loved him.

A funeral service will be held on Friday at 10 am from the First Presbyterian of Clarks Summit , 300 School St., Clarks Summit, PA  with services by Rev. William Carter.  Interment will take place in Laurelwood Cemetery, Stroudsburg.

Friends may call on Thursday from 4 to 7 pm at the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit, PA  18411.  A Masonic service will be held at 6:30 pm.
