Listen to Obituary
James Hannigan, 80, of Belle, WV passed away July 15, 2016.
He was born December 14, 1935 in Shrewsbury, WV. James often spoke with great affection of his childhood and the love of his adoring family. His mother, Laura and father, John set a foundation of honesty, integrity, and kindness that would stay with James his entire life.

James was retired from Commonwealth Telephone Company where he worked for 36 years as a line foreman. He served his country in the U.S. Army in Germany in the 1950's. His passions included hunting and bluegrass music. Hunting season was like Christmas to James. The preparations, the excitement, the camaraderie of the season were annual rituals. Bluegrass music was another source of great joy. James seemed to always be playing his mandolin, fiddle, or guitar, sharing songs with others, and telling stories. But most of all, his passion for family and friends was the driving force in his life.

Surviving are his sons, Anthony Hannigan and Brian Hannigan; his daughters, Twila LaBar, Lindsey Hannigan, and Jamie Hannigan; his sisters, Dorl Holdren and Mary Hanson; his friend, Phyllis; his daughter-in-law, Jillian Hannigan; and his many grandchildren, greatgrandchildren, nieces and nephews.

James was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia; his son, James; his sister, Anna Mae Pritt; his brothers, Sterling, Eugene, and Joe.

A memorial will be held at the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit on Saturday, July 23 at 1 pm with an hour of v.
