Jacqueline Elizabeth McLaughlin, 71, of Moosic, passed away at Commonwealth Hospice In-Patient Unit, Wednesday evening from an extended illness. She was the wife of her high school sweetheart and love of her life, Joseph Martin McLaughlin. Jackie and Joe knew each other since 4th grade and would have celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary on January 5, 2015.
Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Elizabeth Williams Peters. She was a graduate of West Scranton High School.
Jacqueline was a devoted daughter, wife, mother and grandmother. She was an amazing woman with many talents; a full time homemaker who excelled in interior decorating, sewing, cooking and gardening. She was proud of her home, and especially loved traveling to Ireland with her husband.
Surviving are two daughters, Sally Jones and her husband, Robert, Biglerville and Jacqueline Donelan and her husband John, Moosic; and a son, Joseph and his wife Jeanmarie, Camp Hill; eight treasured grandchildren, Rachael, Sara and Robert Jones; John, Sean and Ryan Donelan; and Nathan and Quinn McLaughlin; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Sally Peters Hurchick, her twin brother, Jack Peters and infant brother, Thomas Peters.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Michael Gilhooley and Dr. Gregory Cali for their care and compassion over the years, Commonwealth Hospice of NEPA nurses, aides and staff for the excellent care provided during her short stay.
The funeral will be held Saturday at 10 am at the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit with services by Rev. George Mathews. Interment will follow in Abington Hills Cemetery, So. Abington Twp.
The family will receive friends and relatives Friday from 4 to 8 pm at the funeral home.
