John H. "Jack" Tomlin, 66, of Falls, died Friday morning at home. His wife of 48 years is Mildred Jean Tomlin.
Born in Scranton, son of the late William and Mildred Henry Tomlin of Falls, he was a 1960 graduate of Falls Overfield School. His career led him in many directions, but he always had a vision to be a leader. He enjoyed the business world, especially when involved in sales, where he had a chance to meet new people.
Throughout the years, he was a member and officer of many clubs and organizations, including Waverly Lodge 301, Free and Accepted Masons; the Jaycees, the Factoryville Sportsmen's Club and the Lake Winola Fire Company.
His free time was spent trying to make a difference in the community, and he was extremely proud of being elected president of the Tunkhannock Area Board of Education. He was a beloved husband.
Also surviving are three children, Gloria L., T.J. Tomlin and Andrea Tomlin, all of Falls; a granddaughter, Thea L. Tomlin; a son-in-law, Michael Poist; a brother, James Tomlin, Bellbrook Ohio; a sister, Joy Lynn Morgan, Scranton; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Monday at 10 a.m. in Falls United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Joan S. Dodson, pastor, officiating. Interment, Fairview Cemetery, Lake Winola.
Friends may call Sunday, 4 to 8 p.m., at the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit. In lieu flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Jack Tomlin Education Fund, c/o Community Bank and Trust, or the Lake Winola Fire Company.
