Irene Bird, 92, of Linden Crest Apartments in Clarks Summit, died Friday afternoon at the Regional Hospital of Scranton.
Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Alex and Julia Gnhataw Pavluchuk. Before retirement, she was employed as a housekeeper and nurse's aid at the Community Medical Center in Scranton.
Surviving are a son, Rob Bird, Newton Twp.; two grandsons, Scott Bird, Charlotte, N.C.; and Jason Bird, Newton Twp.; four great-grandchildren, Hannah, Avary and Garrett Bird, Charlotte, N.C.; and Danika Bird, Newton; a brother, Leo Pavluchuk, Buffalo, N.Y.; a sister, Olga Van Louvender, Moosic; and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by a son, Gary Bird, who died May 2, 1948; and a brother, Joseph Pavluchuk.
Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in Fairview Memorial Park in Elmhurst. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Paralyzed Veterans of America, 7 Mill Brook Road, Wilton, NH 03086. Arrangements are entrusted to the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit, PA 18411. T
