Ida Mae Wall of Falls Twp. passed away April 9, 2022, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law with her loving family by her side. She was the widow of Joseph E. Wall, who died March 5, 2012, after 53 years of marriage together.
Born in Falls Twp., Wyoming County, on Feb. 5, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Manley Oliver and Doris Edwards Sarten Swartz. She was a graduate of the former Falls Overfield High School in Mill City in 1954. She was employed as a presser for the former Falls Dress Factory in Falls for 33 years and was a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union; later she was employed at Allied Services for 20 years.
She was the Falls news correspondent for the Tunkhannock New Age Examiner paper for many years and a longtime member of the West Falls Baptist Church. She loved her church family.
She especially enjoyed the beauty of her flowers and her favorite pastime was tending to her flower beds. Ida also enjoyed doing genealogy work and loved taking care of the collections of photo albums she put together, as well as her collection of scrapbooks concerning local news items. She enjoyed attending stock car races with her husband and she won her first Powder Puff Race at Herb Harvey's Speedway.
Surviving are a daughter, Anita and husband, Rick St. Clair, Falls; a granddaughter, Victoria Phillips; two stepgrandchildren, Denise Oakes and her companion, Mike Smith; and Daniel St. Clair; four stepgrandchildren, Kyle and Cameron Oakes, and Tamara and Dylan St. Clair; sister-in-law, Mary Swartz; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Olive Ann Swartz Baker and Mary Etta Long; and a brother, Jasper D. Swartz.
The family would like to thank Traditional Hospice for their love, compassion and caring, especially her nurses Samantha and Amy and Kathleen Parlenti who cared for Ida the past three weeks. Your love, support and compassion will never be forgotten. Also thank you nephew and nieces, Daniel and Suzanne Swartz, and Mary Doris Nicholoff. Your help, kindness, love, visits and "babysitting" meant more to us than we can ever say — We love you guys!
